Back Again

Back Again

Sometimes I wonder how the content for this blog still exists…  I started this blog more than 3 years ago using Drupal, and since then I’ve converted the SQL to be used with wordpress, and had numerous problems that could have caused me to lose everything.  Somehow I still have it, and I’m happy that I do.

I have to say that this version of wordpress is so much better than the version I was using before (which was 2.1)

Anyways, look back for some new posts coming.

Running… or lack thereof

Running… or lack thereof

So over the entire summer I ran 4 times per week easily.  Sometimes it was more, and sometimes it was less.  I stayed on my running schedule for the first few weeks of school, but after that it got harder and harder to keep it up until i wasn’t running at all.  That’s been the case for the last month or so…. until yesterday that is.

Take a Stand Against the Madness; Stop the RIAA!

Take a Stand Against the Madness; Stop the RIAA!

From EFFs Site:

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is on a rampage, launching legal attacks against average Americans from coast to coast. After over 18,000 lawsuits and counting against P2P users, file sharing has continued to increase rapidly. Meanwhile, music fans, like 12 year-old Brianna LaHara, college student Cassi Hunt, and parent of five Cecilia Gonzalez, are being forced to pay thousands of dollars they do not have to settle RIAA-member lawsuits, and many other innocent individuals are being caught in the crossfire.

This irrational crusade is not generating a single penny for the artists that the RIAA claims to protect. The RIAA should be working to create a rational, legal means by which its customers can take advantage of file sharing technology and pay a fair price for the music they love. With artists increasingly turning against the lawsuits, momentum may be shifting in favor of a better way forward.

Copyright law shouldn’t make criminals out of more than 60 million Americans

This semester is going to be crazy.

I just got done with my first morning class in more than a half of a year and I thought that I was going to die. I didn’t really care about the fact that it was a morning class, it was more about the class itself.

My 9:30 class on Mondays and Wednesdays is Intro to Logic. The class seemed like it would be a good choice (plus it was required for my degree), but I didn’t think that it would be as boring as it was today.

The Prof talked the whole time about things that seemed complely… well, logical to me. In other words, he talked about things that were obvious to me.

I guess that this should make me happy that I have an easy class, but for some reason it leaves me a little scared.

Historically when I get into situations like this, I tend to pay less attention in class and end up with a worse grade than I would if it was a harder class and I had to pay attention.

Oh well, we’ll see what happens.

I have a break from 11:00AM – 1:15PM, so I decided that I’d get some stuff done.

I’m a big fan of IRC, and without my laptop here I have no way to use it. So I found a CGI based IRC client.

I haven’t installed it yet, but I plan to before I leave for lunch.

Once again, it’s early, and I’m up.

This time I’m going to Lansing with the family to see my Grandparents on my Mom’s side.

The MP3 Player’s ready to go for the car ride, now I just have to stay awake at the restaraunt.

More later,
Jon Howe
